Future research could next examine the differences between urban and rural counties, since disparities seem to be seen between urban and rural areas. Similarly, further research could examine the relationship between the number of physicians per 'x' population and the distance to medical care between urban and rural areas with a high prevalence of chronic conditions. Additional research could focus on analyzing what relationship the proximity of interstates have on chronic conditions and health.
Provided more time and additional resources, analyzing data at a lower level than the county level would provide a better analysis for the contributing factors and for each of the chronic conditions. Analysis at the neighborhood block or zip code level would have been better to use. However due to time constraints and HIPPA concerns, the county level was the most specific level possible.
